Falling in love with Tim was kind of like breathing for Dick. He never really had to think about it. Tim had always meant the world to him. Even as a little kid with cautious eyes and a too serious face, Tim had enchanted him and Dick couldn’t keep himself from hugging the shy toddler. The minute the kid walked back into his life several years later with his camera hanging from his neck and a nervous expression on his face, Dick couldn’t help the feeling of fondness that suffused him. That feeling of fondness only grew over the years. It turned into affection and affection rapidly shifted into love and when Tim hit seventeen that love took an altogether more amorous turn.

Seducing Tim had almost been as easy as falling in love with him. It had always been pretty clear to Dick that he held a special place in Tim’s heart. He hadn’t been so sure about his place in Tim’s libido, but a pointed conversation with Wonder Girl cleared that up. Getting past Tim’s issues about sex was a little more complicated. Wonder Girl’s only hint had been not to wear any pink lingerie as, evidently, Tim had some bad experience with it early on. Wonder Girl didn’t go into any specifics, but her eyes got pretty wide when she made the suggestion so Dick guessed it wasn’t an optional thing.

Not that Dick wore pink lingerie, but it was good to know where the limitations were.

So after many thwarted attempts and oblivious stares, Dick finally wrestled Tim into bed one night after a mission. It was hot and it was fast and it was exceptionally passionate. Tim turned out to be a giving lover and one who wasn’t afraid to have fun. He challenged Dick, thrilled Dick, amused Dick and taunted him in turns.

Being in a serious relationship with Tim was pretty much Dick’s only option. Tim had a way of just insinuating himself in Dick’s life in the least obtrusive and most endearing ways ever. While getting serious with all of his other lovers had seemed difficult and nigh impossible, with Tim it just felt right immediately. Tim’s toothbrush in his bathroom made him smile, Tim’s boxers in his top drawer made something warm that felt a lot like happiness coil low in his belly.

The only thing in Dick’s relationship with Tim that didn’t come naturally was romance. Dick was, very secretly of course, a hopeless romantic.

He liked to wine and dine his lovers, he liked to take them out on moon lit picnics. He liked long walks on the beach filled with a deeply comfortably silence. He liked the expression on his lover’s face when he bought them jewelry or flowers. He liked to hold their hands as they walked down the street.

Tim, though, Tim didn’t like any of those things.

Tim’s idea of a moon lit date was taking out a few gang lords. Tim’s idea of a nice night alone together was a couple of action movies and a pizza. Tim’s idea of weekend away was taking out international terrorists.

Tim didn’t hold hands in public. He didn’t like the beach, too much sand he said. Tim didn’t wear jewelry and he never cared for flowers. He thought fancy restaurants were foppish and it had been nearly impossible to get the guy into a tie after he got out of boarding school.

Dick was starting to think that Tim was hopeless one.

Though, Dick would probably be more inclined to take issue if Tim didn’t look so damn cute dozing off on his sofa clad only in boxers and an undershirt, quietly drooling on his upholstery. Dick reflected that perhaps there were some benefits to staying in as he lay next to Tim on the sofa and pulled him into his arms.

At least this way neither of them had to comb their hair.

I know I have a bazillion comments to catch up on, I'm not ignoring anyone, I'm just super tired.

museofspeed, want to finish the Tim/Bernard rp tomorrow? I feel like Tim's been driving Bernard home for the past eight hours. Would you like to start a new one?

I love POV's when it comes to Tim and Dick's is warm and wonderful.

And yes, I see Dick as being very much a romantic. I think his parents were very much in love with one another and likely displayed that often, in big and small ways and that made an impact on him.

Point of that little babble? You write a wonderful Dick, showing that softer, more playful side of him that canon too often over looks.

I love playful Dickie too. :D

Heee, cute. Poor Dick, trying to show Tim a good time...

And as for the RP, yeah, sure! I know, it's like Bernard lives in another state or something. I'm thinking they're probably not going to end this throwing caution to the wind and madly making love on Bernard's roof (even though that would be awesome). So yeah, perhaps after this, Bernard can start a new post.

Sounds good. Let me know what you want to do.

They could go on a "not-date!"

This is lovely! Your Dick is really sweet.

Tim’s idea of a moon lit date was taking out a few gang lords. Tim’s idea of a nice night alone together was a couple of action movies and a pizza. Tim’s idea of weekend away was taking out international terrorists.
So true, so true.

Thank you for writing this. I really like it.

P.S. Er, what happened with the pink lingerie?

Adriana was wearing pink lingerie when she tried to seduce Tim FOREVER ago. He had to jump out of window to get away from her homicidal uncle who thought they were fooling around. I imagine it must have been pretty traumatic.

LOved Dick's POV on Tim, and no he didn't really have a choice in falling in love with Tim. (did any of us have a choice in loving Timmy?)

Looking forward to any sequel you write to this.

No one has a choice, he's just adorably endearing. :D

Pooooooor hopelessly romantic Dick :)

But yes, there ARE advantages to staying in.

Very nicely done. Terribly cute. Excuse me now, I think I need to see my dentist ~_^

Oh god, I write too much fluff. I'm sorry about your teeth. :(
Jun. 23rd, 2008 01:17 am (UTC)
No apologies :) one needs a good dose of sweetness from time to time. it balances out all the angst ~_^

This was sweetly adorable, and I think that Dick is right - Tim is kind of hopeless. But he's worth it.
Jun. 23rd, 2008 01:13 am (UTC)
totally worth it. :D
