LJ Secret Santa for 2010?

Is anyone interested in an LJ Secret Santa?

I think it would be fun. Also, I fucking love sending out care packages.

I'm thinking ten dollar spending limit with an emphasis on handicrafts and self made Zines

Would you be into an LJ/DCU Fandom Secret Santa?

Also, comment here if you want to help me run this thing if it gets off the ground. Help is always good.

Discussion and suggestions in comments would also be awesome.

Incidentally, if I get five or more 'yes' answers, I'll probably go through with it.

oAo Would we have to actually buy stuff to send? I might be able to send charms, or make digital art for people, but I don't think I actually have ten dollars to spend. =w= *sad face* I'd like to do it though.

Making stuff is what I was hoping we could all do. It's what's I intend to encourage. Little artsy things or zines or cookie boxes. Things like that.

I think everyone should play to their strengths.

I saw those cute little charms you made for Gloria. Something like that would be just perfect and I'm sure ANYONE would be thrilled to get one.

Sounds great, although I first read "handicrafts" as "handcuffs". In this fandom though, that might be the same thing.

If I get you, I'm absolutely sending you a handcuff themed package.

My husband would love you for that. Although if he tried to convince me that the Batman movies are the "real" canon not the comics, I'm going to leave him and go find an archer.

Wow. That whole Batman Movies being Real thing would SO be a deal breaker for me.

He's lucky you're so forgiving. :D

SAME OMG.

Extending the Scans_Daily motto to the fandom at large: It's never just you. XD

This would be awesome! I can make nifty things far faster than I can write stories for people, so this is something I can actually sign up for (I've decided I'm no longer allowed to sign up for fic exchanges, lol).

I'd also like to offer my help for whatever you may need!

Awesome! I'm glad you're joining up!

I'm absolutely going to take you up on the help. Maybe we can discuss how we want to go about doing this as there is totally more than enough interest.

Do you think we should do a com like with charactercards? That way people who aren't on my flist can follow news and stuff?

What would you suggest?

I think a com would be a great idea! It would be easier to keep track of everything that way, and then we could just pimp the com around and have people join it to find everything.

I've never done anything like this before, so I'm not really sure how it works. :/

I agree. I'll do one up tomorrow, after work.

We're going to need to figure out a way to pair people up at random. Also, we'll need to come up with deadlines. Ones far enough in advance that we can easily do a pinch hit if someone can't do it.

Awesome. :D

I'll give this some thought. We'll need to set the dates so that people have enough time to make/get together what they want to send and for it to get to where it needs to go. I think there will be enough time for everyone to send something out before the holidays, we're a pretty creative bunch!

That's totally fine. You can do whatever it is you're awesome at.

If you're good at making playlists, send someone a CD. Depending on who I get, I'll probably send cookies or baked goods. Just play to your strengths. <3

ROFL!!! most people HATE my playlists, omg, that is so funny.

I put system of a down with Sesame street.

IT MAKES SENSE and my Tim muse used to love it.

That makes me think ALL THE MORE that you need to do a play list. >:DDDD

Also, I need to see this Tim play list with bot Sesame Street and System of a Down. Or hear, I suppose.

It's System of a Down, "Ariels" and then Sesame Street "I don't want to live on the moon."

It makes Tim feel... lonely, but then Dick rolls over and his arms around his waist, and Tim's not-lonely. But he has drool on his shirt.

In my book drool tolerance = true love.

I'm so in (exempt for that fact anyone who gets me is going to have to fork out for more postage than most...Unless it's Just...) But I love the idea!

I just sent a package to Justine today and it only cost me 7 bucks at the same time I sent one out to California and it cost me 9. It really depends on what you're sending. It shouldn't be too hard to keep things affordable.

I wouldn't worry.

If someone tells me they can't afford international postage I'll hook them up with someone domestic.

Then I am so very in! *head swimming with ideas!* Let me know if you turn it into a comm. so I can sign up!

I do like this idea! I love gift exchanges. I'm not sure what I'd send, though...Hmm. *thinks* Oooh, maybe that... *has an idea*

I voted 'maybe', but I want to change it to "yes". ^_^

One thing we usually do in our family with Secret Santas is we write down what we like on the paper with our name, so our recipient isn't completely lost. So I think it would be a good idea to have anyone that signed up note their favorite character(s), etc, on their sign up, so their Santa wouldn't be completely lost (esp if they don't know the person). It might even be nice to have a public sign up thread, so other people could get ideas for things, even if they aren't that person's actual Santa.

A comm is an excellent idea. It's hard to run something like this from your own journal. And this way you can advertise it other places more easily, too.

I was hoping you'd want to do this. :D

You're so good at organizing things that my secret plan was to try and bribe you into being a co-mod. ~<3?

But yeah, having people write down their interests to help their partner along was absolutely part of the plan.

I'm going to throw a com together tonight and maybe do some banner begging. We absolutely have enough interest.

This will be funnn. <333
